Murder Mystery Game: The Mafia MurdersQuantity in Basket: none

Quantity:

Circa 1920’s. Someone in the family is out to destroy the Godfather. So much for loyalty to "da boss". Great choice for a holiday party - make it A Very Mafia Christmas.

How Our Large Group Mystery Games Work: Our games are designed for parties with 20 or more guests. You'll need to select people willing to take part in the mystery as the primary suspects (including victim(s), detective and killer). They'll have full knowledge of the script, which means they'll know whodunit*. The rest of your guests will take on the role of detective and it will be their job to actively solve the case (by examining the evidence and questioning, eavesdropping on and following the suspects for example). Essentially, everyone will have a crucial part in the mystery.

*PLEASE NOTE: If you don't want your prime suspects to know whodunit you can add a narrator to your game. Have the narrator read the script as if telling a story. Your suspects will need to act out what he or she says. You'll give them their characters descriptions ahead of time but not the script itself. We're slowly adapting all our mystery games to include a "know it all version" and a "narrator version" but we're not there yet. If we have adapted a game you'll see it noted in the description.

For ALL the details on how our games work (including number of players, length of mystery and pre-event prep time) and answers to your most frequently asked questions, please go to How Our Games Are Played.

THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS:

THE YEAR: 1929. (You can set it in modern day if you want.)

EVENT: A special party at the Godfather’s speakeasy, The Library.

STORY: The Godfather is having a very bad night when he discovers someone wants him dead. Great choice for your holiday party - make it A Very Mafia Christmas.

PRIMARY SUSPECTS:

  1. Donato “Baby Face” Brundizzi: Da Godfather. Need we say more?
  2. Waldo “The Sneak” Brundizzi: Donato’s much-maligned but cowardly brother who feels he shoulda been the Don.
  3. Crusher Joe Genelli: The Godfather’s loyal bodyguard.
  4. Rita “The Rose” Scallopini: The Godfather’s niece. A sweet?? Italian girl who lost her parents in a car explosion about 5 years ago.
  5. “Dapper” Dan Johnson: The Godfather’s disgruntled accountant. Yeah, he may be scrawny but he could make a good Mafioso, he’s sure of it!
  6. Jimmy “The Gyp” Johnson: Dapper’s good-for-nothing brother. (Dapper and Jimmy can be played by the same person.)
  7. Fifi LaTrick: The Godfather’s ditzy moll. She used to be Waldo’s.

SECONDARY SUSPECTS (optional). EVERYONE will be actively involved in this mystery because it will be their job to solve the case and because you’ll be encouraging them to come in costume and in character. Use any or all of these secondary suspects if you have "extra" cast members you want to use or if you have some guests who want to take on a character but not take on the full responsibility of a primary suspect. You will NOT give them a script but you will give them a description of their character and let them run with it. FOR LARGE GROUP MYSTERIES (75 OR MORE): I’d definitely suggest you cast your secondary suspects and give them a script - just like you’ll do with your primary suspects. During the mystery it will be the secondary suspects’ "job" to act as general support for the primary suspects. They’ll roam the room "gossiping" about the goings-in, quiet the audience down during a main action, answer questions, bring primary suspects to tables for questioning and make sure your guests have seen the physical clues that have been revealed.

  1. Rosa Scallopini: Rita’s older sister.
  2. Connie Nonni: The Brundizzi brothers’ widowed aunt.
  3. Fast Hands: The Godfather’s advisor.
  4. The Maul Man: A wannabe bodyguard.
  5. Dollface: A wannabe Mafia lieutenant. Yeah, shes a dame. What’s it to ya?
  6. The Hammer: The Godfather wants to do business with him but does he want to do business with the Godfather?
