HOW
OUR MURDER MYSTERY DINNER PARTY GAMES WORK:
IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ.
- This type of murder mystery party game is geared
towards groups of 20 or more.
-
You'll
need to provide 6-8 people willing to take part in the mystery
as the primary suspects, victim(s), detective and killer (see mystery
game
choices). They'll have full
knowledge of the script, which means they'll know whodunit**
- The
rest of your guests will take on the role of detective and it will
be their job
to actively solve the case by examining evidence, finding clues,
following and questioning suspects - whatever it takes for them
to solve the mystery.
- Essentially,
everyone will have a crucial, interactive part in the mystery.
- The
whodunit will be about 1 1/2 to 2 hours long but
you can make it shorter by tightening up the sequence of events or
longer by allowing more
time between the scenes/action.
- Your guest actors won't have to memorize
a lot of dialogue but they will have to be familiar with a sequence
of events
or timeline that will
move the mystery through the clues, the murder(s) and the solving
of the crime (*see
game sample). They'll have to carry out certain actions (like
arguments) and suspicious activities to set themselves up as suspects.
- All are mystery games are challenging to solve
but they're also comedies - a great combination for an unforgettable
event.
- This will not be a stationary mystery - it will
be action-packed; we get people active and involved unlike those
mysteries-in-a-box where everyone just sits around reading their
part and asking questions they get from a booklet.

**PLEASE NOTE: If
you don't want your prime suspects to know whodunit you can add
a narrator to your game. Have the narrator read the script as if
telling a story. Your suspects will need to act out what he or
she says. You'll give them their characters descriptions ahead
of time but not the script itself.
COMING
SOON...You'll soon have 2 versions
available to you with purchase: Version 1 is our "know it
all "
version where the prime suspects know whodunit; Version 2 is our "narrator"
version where they don't know whodunit. 2 options; one very low
price. This option is now available
for The Special Ones Kids' Mystery Game, Diary of a Burning Woman,Murder
At The Midnight Hour, Murder on Maui and Next of Kin and we're slowly
making our way through all our mystery games.

NUMBER
OF PLAYERS: Due to the interactive nature of the mysteries, they
are best suited for groups of 20 to 125 guests. Why?
LENGTH
OF MYSTERY: Approximately
1 1/2 to 2 hours.
PRE-EVENT
PREP TIME: Anything
and everything that can be downloaded is included with this game.
You can prep the mystery in an hour or two. You’ll
need to print programs and other such documents, shop for small items
(like a fake knife or other possible murder weapon) and organize the
props (clues, etc.) and supplies but it’s
all very simple to do. I do recommend however that you give
your primary suspects about 2 weeks
to get familiar with the script and to prepare their character. It
takes at least one read through to get everyone (the suspects) straight.
I'd also recommend that you all watch my little video on my web site
at www.haleyproductions.com/movie.html to
get a "visual". (By the way, that's
your game designer, Susan Haley, lifting her skirts as Savannah Sugarbaker). Set
a time to get together, perhaps add some food and drink to the "rehearsal",
and just TALK through the script. Don't have everyone read it word
for word - it won't help anyone really understand what's happening
and it's pretty boring. I've always found that if you all talk through
the action/sequence as your character, it helps loosen things up, people
start finding the humor in their character and they get a better understanding
of the whole picture. It's informal and relaxed - two things you need
to alleviate some of the actors' nervousness. More
helpful hints.

Happened To Sam Disney?
"Murder at the Midnight
Hour" was a smashing hit. Our community has been hard hit by
downsizing of the textile industry. This night made some folks laugh
and escape their problems for about two hours. Something they had not
done for a long time. I thank you for the script and plan on selecting
another to perform in the months ahead. Eric Tyler, Alexander City,
